All Time Favorite Songs

Just one more list by yours truly. There are songs that are my current favorite songs (right now, I Don't Wanna Dance and Wish You Were Here by Hey Monday) which are usually whatever new song I just found. I go on a rampage where that's all I'll listen to for days. But they usually don't stick with me. I have a few songs that I just love every time I hear them and I listen to all the time and I love them. These are the songs that never change. Here we go. I'll include an explanation for why I like each one.
Seed
The Academy Is...
Santi
TAI has a few songs that people recognize. These are the pop based songs that I do not enjoy nearly as much. Santi was by far their best album out of their 4 albums. Off this CD came hits that true fans of TAI love. Same Blood, LAX To O'Hare, We've Got A Big Mess On Our Hands, and so on. The last 4 songs are really the hidden gems (I hate to use that cliche phrase but I don't know how else to put it.) Seed isn't as harsh and in your face as the other songs. It's a bit slower, softer, and overall sounds more heartfelt. Not sure exactly what it is about it, but it sticks with me and I love it.
All I Wanted
Paramore
Brand New Eyes
If you listen to Paramore as much as I do, you know that Haley (the singer incase you don't know...you should. I shouldn't have to tell you that.) doesn't usually sing falsetto. While she has a pretty insane range, you get used to hearing her stay inside that range. Over time of listening to every song they've sung over and over and over, you learn how high she can hit. In All I Wanted, she stays within that range. You listen to it and think that it's a good song. 2:45 in, she sings a line. A simple line that has been repeated throughout the song "All I wanted was you." But she sings that line so powerfully, so high, so full bodied and full of emotion. As a friend of mine put it, "that note is the closest you can get to a scream with it still being musical." And it's gorgeous. That line made me fall in love with the song. Right now (or as soon as you're done reading this) I want you to get this song (iTunes, Napster, youtube, whatever.) and I want you to listen to it with your eyes closed in a dark room. It gives me chills every time.
Hush
Automatic Loveletter
Truth Or Dare
This song has been on 3 of their albums. The original (the version I fell in love with) the re-done (I don't like this one) and the one on Truth Or Dare. While I love the original, Truth Or Dare's version shows how her voice has evolved and gotten even more beautiful. Her voice isn't what you would call perfect. Have you listened to Celtic Women? Their voices are so pure and sweet. Juliet Simms is basically the opposite. Her voice is raspy, it cracks, and sometimes squeaks. But that's what makes her unique. It allows her to put so much more emotion, so much more of herself into her music. Hush is a very emotional song and the lyrics are so perfect. I literally almost cry every time I hear this song. It is beautiful.
So those are my favorite songs. If you want to make my day, comment saying what your favorite song is. Love, Liz
p.s. I started hating the orange. So it's back to normal. Ahh I feel better.

More poetry

I've decided to share more of my poetry. The first one is the orginal that I wrote. The second is sort of a spin off of the first one. It is what the last paragraph of the first would have turned into if it were its own poem. Again, do not steal or re-print this anywhere. Thank you. Love, Liz.
p.s. the first doesn't have much to do with my life. The second is about a couple different things. Please do not read into them too much. Also, I don't want you to worry that you caused any of the anger poured into these lines...if you have the url to my blog, you didn't. I just don't want you to worry.
p.p.s. I would love feedback =]

Roar

Your memory has broken me past the point of recovery
So while I mourn the loss of what I never had
You wake up at night for a reason unknown.
You can't place a finger on what you've done
But I know you are regretting it the same

You pulled my emotions to the edge
My nerves are to their breaking point
I scream in frustration, you shudder from anger
Two are left unhappy in a world where chaos roars.

I walk the streets to forget
You sit in bed wishing you could
I welcome new disturbances
To change my old routine
You toss and turn as your mind roams
The places in between.

You pulled my emotions to the edge
My nerves are to their breaking point
I scream in frustration, you shudder from anger
Two are left unhappy in a world where chaos roars.

You place the crown upon your head because of course you are the best
Your flawless show will always mask your feelings of unrest
I watch your ego grow and always wish I could speak up
But your crown is too heavy and you always fall before I can wake up.

.....................................................................................................

Crown

you put your crown upon your own head
you know that you are best
pull on your robe, your silver shoes
your facade of love and truth
what would the world do without the ego that is you?

you walk down the famed red carpet
you know the world is yours
I watch you fake a smile and laugh to show you really care
I glare from the side and watch you not notice

the people who were always there.

you act like you aren't broken
you see the world as yours
but I know when no one's watching
you hear the chaos roar.

people tell you it will get better but some pain never goes away. you have to sweep up the shattered pieces of yourself and try to put them back together. they won't fit the same way they did before but you can take those pieces and make them a part of yourself. you can rebuild your personality around that pain to make yourself a stronger person. i love you.

Poetry

I tend to write a lot of poetry. This is a fact about me that generally goes unknown. I used to write terrible, very cliche poetry when I was younger and I didn't have a problem showing people. Now I only let around 3 people read it. I don't know why, but I decided to put one on here. Just a disclaimer, this doesn't actually have anything to do with my life. None of my current poems do. This one doesn't have a title but here it is. Don't steal it. Luv, Liz
p.s. it's sort of dark. Just warning you.

I messed up
I'm sorry about your luck
you're stuck with me.
I wish something better for you
Would come along
And maybe give you hope to carry on.

When I said what I said
(I know you remember)
I didn't mean a word of it.
I tried to protect you from me
But it only dug you deeper in the ground.
I pray that you'll escape these walls I've built

That you find what you're looking for
outside my designation

I threw away my world (please keep yours)
I took away the best of you (and numbed it for myself)
I tried to tell you (you wouldn't listen)
And now you share the pain I've felt.

Just wanted to share...

Hey there. I just wanted to share this with you. I absolutely love this and I apologize for the swearing. I'm not changing the original so I can post it here. So I'm just going to post it. Enjoy. Luv, Liz

Everything The Letter Should Have Said:

Every time we kissed you closed your eyes, and I clamped mine open, just to see those short lived moments that I almost let me love you.
So lie away, I did, so wide awake, trying to give myself a good reason to forget the empty words from this hollow curse. I can’t shake the weight of what we’ve been through, and I won’t justify the way we never really listen to a goddamn word we claim to. Let’s be fair. Let’s take some order. We’re too much like each other, and there’s no chance in hell that you would change for me. Why would I change for you? But the painful truth exposed here, as you grab your autumn jacket and slowly make your way towards the door, is that in this short lived moment my heart is left unfastened, as the single thing I feared the most just happened.
