Love Actually

Love Actually is a love story that follows 9 different relationships. Since this is the only romance on my list of favorite movies, it has to be a good one and it is. Admittedly, it is rated R for very good reasons...which is why I have to look away during about 4 scenes =]. This is by far the best love story ever made. It's also one of those rare movies that can actually make me cry...and there's not that many. Keep in mind it's not like I'm sobbing or anything throughout the whole thing, it's just this one super sweet scene and (almost) everyone I've showed has cried as well. Sorry this wasn't longer but since it's about so many characters I don't want to take and hour describing each relationship and if I did it would be boring.
On another note, IT'S THE LAST DAY OF 2009! It's the end of a decade...I'd say this is pretty epic. Enjoy the last day everyone.

Nightmare Before Christmas and Every Avenue Reviews

Nightmare Before Christmas, the story of Jack the Pumpkin King of Halloweenland who just wants something new. Getting tired of the same old scares he sets off to find something new and stumbles into ChristmasTown where he decides he's going to make Christmas this year.
For whatever reason this movie captivates me every time I watch it. It's an amazing example of stop motion animating and I've learned enough about stop motion to know that it's very hard to make and this movie is even harder because, since it's a musical of sorts, the characters' mouths have to move in a way that makes it look like they're not only talking, but singing. To me, this movie brings up a very interesting, hard to describe feeling. I could watch this over and over, never get bored, and come up with new details that I haven't noticed before. It's a great movie for all ages, absolutely nothing scary, but younger kids won't GET it. My dad tries to make me see a message in this movie (always be yourself etc...) but to me it's just a great movie about a very curious skeleton who's getting bored with his same old life. If you haven't seen it, you should. I can't guarantee that you will love it, or like it even, because it seems that I'm the only one in my family that enjoys it. Almost everyone else I've talked to just thinks it's extremely weird.


Every Avenue is a band that I've heard a lot about and finally decided to check out. I read a few reviews one of which compared them to Fall Out Boy. The article said that "if you hate how mainstream FOB has become, check out Every Avenue..." going on to say how they are very similar. That's rubbish. They are so different, it's not even funny. Where FOB uses harsher, louder guitars and sweet innocent sounding vocals singing almost nonsense lyrics and sound so different than any band I've ever heard, Every Avenue's music sounds...well, common. A lot of Every Avenue's music does sound the same, I won't lie, some of their songs stand out. I will admit that their second album (Picture Perfect) is a lot better than their first (Shhh...Just Go With It). The highlights of their second album (the one I bought) are Tell Me I'm A Wreck, Girl Like That, Saying Goodbye, and, my favorite, The Story Left Untold. Those are the songs that sound most different and not as overused as the others which, admittedly, could be any song played on emo/punk radio. If you really like these songs, than yes, get the rest of the album-they might just be your new favorite band. But if you think they're just ok, don't bother with the rest.

Automatic Loveletter

Automatic Loveletter is a small band from Tampa, Florida with their first FULL LENGTH CD about to be released next year. They have a few shorter CDs/EPs out but their full length is sometime next year. Juliet Simms, lead singer, has such an interesting, unique voice that you would definitely recognize anywhere. I wasn't sure if I liked her voice when I started listening to them but now I can't stop. Look up their song 'Hush'. The original. NOT the remake. Another thing I really like about this song is that I can sing it well which isn't usually true with most higher-pitched songs. If I could take a decent video I'd put one up of me singing the chorus, a cappella because it's easier without music. Next time we hang, ask and if I'm feeling nice I'll sing you the chorus =] The following link is them singing Hush live. It's a lot different than the recorded. I suggest you check out the original before watching, or if you're time-limited just watch this. You have to give it a chance though, because it honestly doesn't start out that great. The amazing-ness picks up when she starts the chorus.

I FEEL LIKE SUCH A DIRTY LIAR!

I did it AGAIN. I'm sorry...*bows head*. Vurk and P.S. now have permission to give me dots of shame tomorrow. Um...I went to see New Moon at midnight when it came out and then I went to school the next day only getting 3 hours of sleep. Usually, I'm a spaz. When I'm sleep deprived, I'm hysterical and delusional. When I have 1 mountain dew, I got crazy. Now, imagine regular me, sleep deprived, after drinking two cans of mountain dew in about 15 minutes. Yeah.

Not much else has happened, I guess...Vurk is working on a youtube series that I get to be in and I'm really looking forward to it. I read the first bit of the script today and it pretty much rocks.

I saw a concert thing last night with G and Squirt. It was Collective Soul, Vedera (they signed my shoes), Five for Fighting, Green River Ordinance, Sister Hazel, and Parachute. They were all pretty good (but I didn't see FFF, or SH because I went to get lunch.)

I have to go eat dinner (fries) now. Night all!

Lot's of stuff...

Sorry about all of the nonposts within the last few weeks. A lot of stuff has happened since the last post. I saw a bunch of bands in concert a while ago. I saw The Swellers, Paper Route, and Paramore the first night and the second night was You Me At Six, The Secret Handshake, Set Your Goals, The Academy Is..., and Mayday Parade. The shows were fantastic and if I'm smart enough I'll figure out a way to upload videos and pictures. After the first show I met Nick (singer for The Swellers) and he was super nice. Then I met another member (name escapes me...that makes me feel bad) and he tried so hard to convince me to buy their album. I ended up buying a shirt and when the guys signed my mini poster the guitarist made an arrow pointing the album title with the note "you better buy this!" After exiting HOB I found Paper Route standing outside. They had been so amazing live- 5 guys playing multiple instruments that sounded so unique when put together. The first guy I met (Chad. I remember his name because he opened my CD when I couldn't and then introduced himself and asked my name) was talking to me and another girl about how we thought the show was. I met everyone in the band and when I told them how cool I thought their act was they seemed so shocked that I liked it as much as I did. They were very modest. The second night was just as good if not better (I'm going with the latter...you'll see why soon enough). At the beginning of the show TAI was at a booth signing posters and stuff and we were not supposed to touch them. I got a hug from William Beckett, high fived Michael Guy Chislett and Adam Siska, and shook hands with Mike Carden. Also, William told me that he would look for me in the crowd because I told him this was my second time seeing them- both times for my birthday. I actually have a video where he looks right at me and I think points. The first act of the night was You Me At Six. They were a smaller UK band that was actually pretty good. The lead singer was really charismatic. He was jumping all over the stage, encouraging the audience, and dancing. They did a really cool cover of Pokerface by Lady GaGa and they totally pwned her...their version was WORLDS better. Next was The Secret Handshake. I thought they were really good...AND THEN THEY GOT BETTER. The singer says "ok, now we are going to play the gayest song we know. It's awful but I love it." They then proceeded to play Party In The USA by Miley Cyrus. Next was Set Your Goals. I'm not even going to bother describing their act because it sucked. Badly. Then was TAI (swoon). They were the best of the night (of course). One thing I love about them is that William Beckett is possibly the most charismatic (now there's a word I haven't used at ALL in this post...) and energetic singer. He's up there jumping off of everything he can stand on (including the drums), running around the stage, swinging the mic by it's cord, even throwing the mic stand up in the air and catching it, spinning it, and doing all this cool stuff with it. Then was Mayday Parade. I was actually sitting down through most of their performance, not because I didn't like them, but because I was sick. Show ended, curtains close, we grab some merch and leave. My mum is going to the car to grab the camera and I see William Beckett standing outside surrounded by fans. I walk over in time to hear him say that he's going to have to leave soon. So I tap him on the shoulder and ask for a quick picture to which he replies "sure". I hold out the phone, take the picture, turn and kiss him on the cheek, say "love you" and walk off. The girl standing next to him starts laughing and turns to me and says "that was so slick! That was awesome! Good job!" That just about made my life.

In other, less exciting news, I was Draco Malfoy for halloween and was called gay by a man in a pirate outfit. I'm sorry, but I'm not the gay one in this picture, hun.

Last night, I watched "The Village". It was so dumb. I mean, I was expecting something that would at least freak me out a LITTLE. It was way too Hollywood. Let's send the blind girl, alone, out into a forest filled with bloodthirsty monsters! Oh yeah, did I mention that she's BLIND?! I mean, really? And the ending really bugged me too. I also watched I Am Legend. That movie was much better but again, I wasn't really fond of the ending. It was a great movie though.

This post was super long and I'm sorry about that. I'm going to go now and try not to get so behind again.

Paramore, TAI, and the fact that I'm upset

Ok, I'll go in order...

Paramore: First off, I'm seeing them in concert for my birthday!!!! Yay! They're touring with Paper Route and The Swellers. Also, I would like to make a comment about a particular song on their new album. The song All I Wanted is absolutely amazing. It starts out rather slow then picks up speed. At one point in the song, all the music and backing stops and she sings one line...which happens to be the most amazing line and note in the whole history of music. Ever. To quote a friend "it's the highest you can sing without screaming and still sounding musical." It's absolutely crazy and I can't stop listening to it.

The Academy Is... : I'm also seeing them in concert (again) for my birthday!!!! They are playing the night after Paramore with Mayday Parade and I think two other bands that I don't know. They also have just released a new EP titled Lost in Pacific Time- EP-AP and I'm particularly in love with their song Days Like Masquerades.

The fact that I'm upset: Last year I asked a friend of mine who he liked and he gave me a name. Two classes later, the girl who is hopelessly in love with him asked me who he liked and I told her I couldn't tell her. She then said "Is it *name*? It's *name*." And I didn't say anything. She then told him that I told her who he liked. Then he came up to me and said "I can't trust you now. I gave you a fake name to see if I could trust you and you told her." He still doesn't trust me. First off, it hurts that he would give me a fake name to see if he could trust me. Then it hurts that I told him that I didn't tell her and he still can't trust me. I'm literally crying right now. He was a good friend of mine and he's still a friend but...well, you see.

^^This is what happens when you leave me alone with an iPod and computer...I listen to songs from Avenue Q and then blog about it since my life is so uneventful. One event in my life is that our pre-training for the school swim team started today...twas death. Fun, but, as always, painful.

As I have pointed out, my life is currently an epic black hole of boringness and un-events so I am going to make a list of ten random facts you may or may not know about me.

1. I was spent two weeks walking around with a roll of duct tape as a bracelet so people would take me seriously when I threatened to duct tape them to the ceiling.
2. I have anger problems.
3. I have been to 4 concerts and plan on going to at least 3 more in the next year and a half.
4. I have broken 3 bones. (The fourth was a bad sprain)
5. I have an irrational fear of stalker clowns.
6. I'm actually a very logical person although for those who know me, I can seem pretty brain-missing.
7. I cried when I saw Titanic
8. It took me 2 minutes, 53.56 seconds to do that japanese IQ test again :D
9. I love thunderstorms.
10. I'm very bad at making lists :)

6 Feet of Fun!

I'll get around to explaining the title in a moment but first I have to say that I dyed my hair last night and added more this morning. Last night I put a streak in my bangs, in the back, and two on each side. This morning I dyed the rest of my bangs. The colour turned outabsolutely perfect. The colour I used is Rasberry Kamekazi by Beyond the Zone. Around 6pm E came over and I did a few streaks in her hair. Both of ours turned out amazing.
Now to the title. I happened to be chewing a piece of bubble tape while I was leaving a message on P.S.'s phone. While leaving the message I mentioned that and said how I had always wanted to put the full 6 feet in my mouth. After hanging up, I tried it. Here are some tips for if the daredevil in you wants to try that. First rule in chewing all 6 feet of bubble tape: DON'T! If you must, start chewing a piece the size you would normally chew. Chew it really good before you take the next piece which should be about the same size. You want to chew really, really well between pieces because I put the whole thing in at once and almost immediatly regreted it. The thing is, this gum is really sugary and when you chew alot it makes it hard to breathe and you choke. I will never do this again but if I could go back in time I wouldn't stop myself from doing it...it's a learning experiance...just like eating a handful of salt and pepper and then washing it down with a mixture of root beer and lemonade. And on that note, I bid you goodnight.

Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

I saw Half Blood Prince at midnight tonight and oh. my. god. It was absolutley AH-MAZ-ING!!! Sure, they changed the end but it was decent. The end, I mean, not the whole movie.

-SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT!!!-

They completely cut out the fight at the end and Dumbledore's funeral. And, because I am such a Harry Potter Freak, I have to point out every minor thing that they did wrong. So, it WILL contain spoilers.

• Lupin and Tonks were together at the beginning of the film.
• Fleur never came back. Since we're on this topic, Bill never appeared. If Fleur never came back and Bill wasn't there, how are they going to do the wedding scene in Deathly Hallows? I mean, Bill and Fleur can't just show up and say "We met again and have fallen in love. We're going to get married now." They're marriage took time.
• Since Bill was never injured, since there was not a fight, Molly never accepted Fleur, which is totally fine, because they might not even get married now!!!!
• The Death Eaters appeared at the Weasly house and set it on fire and they had this "children of the corn" vibe going on.

And since I can't be pessimistic without being optimistic, I'll include some things they got absolutley perfect.

• Draco's anguish at having to kill Dumbledore
• The room of requirement
• The inferi
• Harry ginving Dumbledore the potion

Since it is 3:38 in the morning, I do have to go.

A Very Potter Musical...

...is possibly the funniest thing I've seen since Bill Cosby: Himself. I know, I know, it's hard to believe but I laughed so flipping hard! I would quote my favorite bit but I'm not supposed to use expletives =D lol. A Very Potter Musical, for those who don't know, was a non-profit musical parody of Harry Potter done for free by a group of recent college grads. The entire, roughly 2 hour, show is on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=C76BE906C9D83A3A). It's definitely my new favorite movie.

In other news, I saw Cirque Du Soliel with my friend R tonight. It was: amazing, astounding, breathtaking, insane, and I can't think of any other words right now. You can't even describe it!

p.s. when I was on vacation, I got really bored and stuck an upraised silver sticker on my nose, took a picture and sent it to a load of people with the message "I got my nose pierced!!!". They all freaked except G who sent back: "i love stickers too" I just found that really funny.

Sooooo......

So I'm back in my own state now (although I live here it will never be my home state) and it's waaaaaaayyyy warmer here. GAH! I hate anything over 90 degrees... :P

I'm gonna see it on the 14th at midnight!!!!!!! Of course, I, being the Harry Potter dork that I am, am going to be dressing up for the event. I have the Gryffindor house sweater which I will be wearing with a Gryffindor tie (it isn't a real tie but I wear it like it is and people seem to buy it. LOL!) over a collared shirt. A black skirt and black shoes topped off with a black cape. And I have a wand of course... =D And I'll probably carry around a stuffed owl or cat. I won't wear a hat though. I mean, I don't want to seem like that big of a dork ;D lol. I actually don't have a hat. (I would wear it otherwise...) My friends P.S. and E will be coming with me (if their 'rents agree) and I'm not sure if they're dressing up or not. Anywho, it will be loads of fun.

Michael Jackson!!!!!!!

I was at the airport yesterday and PS calls me and says "Michael Jackson is dying. Call you back in five minutes. *click*" So I get up and walk over to the CNBC New Station and, sure enough, it was on the news. Michael Jackson had been found not breathing and was given CPR which was not confirmed to have worked. He was rushed to UCLA and lapsed into a coma. Then he died. I was so upset. Then I called A because we are both huge MJ fans and we were both taking our time to mourn. It's unbelievable! After our few minutes of mourning she said "maybe this is just a cover-up and they froze him." to which I replied "yeah, but if he did die they'll probably put his nose on display in the Museum of National History." Tis very sad.
